We have worked with very few photographers over the past 24 years. It’s not that we are specific or picky (though we are), but having someone shoot our work and us over a period of time is a very personal thing. It’s a friendship, a love, a marriage of sorts—and we all know how most of those work out……
So, we are happy to say that the people we have found or who found us—the people we decided to work with—are few, lovely, and talented. They have all contributed to the book, and they listed below in a specific order…..
Chloe Horseman, Mike McGregor, Jerry Buttles, Platon, Eli Schmidt, and Andreas Laszlo Konrath. We love you all, thank you all, and we urge everyone to look up these amazing, talented people on Instagram or Google them—they are all stars.
I can’t tell who took this image, but I think it is Chloe. Throughout the book, there are all these portraits everyone has taken of us. It’s kind of fascinating—for one—for me to see the progression of our aging—very nicely if I say so. This note from Robin Givhan is everything. She’s always been a wonderful supporter of ours, and we are both so very grateful to her for her words and thoughts.
Ah. The Backwards Coat - FABULOUS!!!! Accompanied by words from Duckie’s sketchbook.
Duckie’s sketch of the Floral Coat and then the Floral Coat in denim - voila!
A sketch by Duckie
This is a postcard the V&A produced honoring the full Duckie Brown look they chose to have in their permanent collection. This is one of the biggest honors we have ever been given. It means something even more for Duckie because it’s the V&A and his hometown. It’s always lovely to be recognized for our work - but the V&A - well - it just doesn’t get better than that. And so we thank Sonnet Stanfill, the Senior Fashion Curator from the V&A who has championed us for over 20 years and wrote a piece for our book as well.
Thoughts by Vogue’s wonderful Laia Garcia-Furtado
I love this sketch - so simple - so to the point. so smart
The book is $295 and you can purchase the book directly from us by DM’ing us on Instagram, emailing, or visiting Casa Magazine in the West Village.
