I always feel like summer is almost over, not just starting once we celebrate the 4th of July. I know it’s not so, but that’s how it feels to me. But OK—Summer Fun….
We are out here in the Springs, where we’ve been spending the month of July for the last couple of years. Someone referred to the area as the “Appalachia of the Hamptons.” We’re not exactly sure what that means, but we think it’s the reason why we like it. We really enjoy the Springs. It’s a little more relaxed and low-key, with very little retail around. The Springs used to be one of the last undiscovered and underdeveloped areas of the Hamptons, but depending on who you ask, that ended a decade or so ago.
The Hamptons are a great place to spend your money or get ripped off, but trust us to find some sweet places that are somewhat off the beaten track and some that are not.
